Slovenia— Tattoo scenes & cities

On 10 October 2011, Matjaž Tavčar (Siol.net) reported on what he presents as the first Slovenian tattoo convention, held at the Celje fairgrounds. Organiser and tattoo artist Samo Bregar says tattooing only took off in Slovenia after independence, and that police officers, judges and politicians get tattooed. He regrets that only one Ljubljana body-painting artist attended.

On 1 April 2012, MMC RTV SLO (byline K. K.) covered a three-day gathering of tattoo artists in Krško, held in a former bowling alley. One of the organisers, Aleš Škrapin, presented it as the first international tattoo convention, with tattoo artists from Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Italy. He says Slovenia's bureaucratic requirements make organising such events very difficult.
