On 2 September 2018, Jana Rubinčika (LSM, LTV7) announced the exhibition "Ādas" (Skins) at the Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine in Riga, presented by the article as the first showing in Latvia of a collection of century-old tattoos. According to the article, sailors and prisoners got tattooed, and the collection was built by anatomists; according to Ilze Sirmā of the Anatomy Museum of Rīga Stradiņš University, most bodies came from places of detention and nobody claimed them.

On 28 December 2020, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) announced the catalogue of this Anatomy Museum collection, built in the first half of the 20th century as a teaching collection. According to museum head Ieva Lībiete, the pieces today serve as "rare evidence of the practice of tattooing in Latvia at the beginning of the 20th century"; the announcement adds that they inform on the techniques, pigments and symbols of the time. The 2018 exhibition announcement cites ships, anchors and helms.
