Gods of Ink
A pilgrimage of the world's most revered skin-architects. For three days, the industrial heart of Germany becomes the global epicenter of contemporary and traditional tattooing.
The Frankfurt Legacy
The lineage of the great European conventions has always been one of movement and metamorphosis. When Miki Vialetto announced the transition from the storied halls of London to the industrial grit of Frankfurt, the community held its collective breath. This wasn’t merely a change of venue; it was a strategic pivot toward a city that understands the marriage of raw power and clinical precision.
Frankfurt, with its soaring skyscrapers and brutalist foundations, provides a backdrop that mirrors the evolution of the craft itself. The “Gods of Ink” convention represents the pinnacle of this journey—a curated assembly of artists who have moved beyond the commercial to the transcendental. It is here that the quiet hum of the rotary machine meets the rhythmic tap of the tebori.
In the sprawling expanse of Messe Frankfurt, the atmosphere is electric yet remarkably focused. Unlike the chaotic energy of lesser conventions, there is a reverence here. Collectors arrive from Tokyo, Los Angeles, and São Paulo, carrying their bodies as canvases for the masters who only appear in public once or twice a year.
As we look toward the April 2024 edition, the expectations are higher than ever. Frankfurt is no longer the new home; it is the definitive home. The “Gods” have returned, and the ink they leave behind will tell the story of our generation’s most significant artistic movement.

The Industrial Soul of Frankfurt
Beyond the polished glass of the financial district lies a city built on steel and sweat. Frankfurt's tattoo culture isn't found in the boardrooms, but in the brick-walled studios of Sachsenhausen and the creative hubs of the Ostend. It is a culture of resilience and refinement.
